What You Are Looking For Has Not Gone Anywhere

Perhaps the most important thing to remember is this:

There is nothing you need to become in order to be worthy of what you are seeking.

You do not have to create peace.
Or manufacture innocence.
Or build a new, better version of yourself.

What if these things have not disappeared?

What if they have simply become difficult to recognise?

Over time, we collect many things.

Ideas about who we are.
Memories of what happened.
Fears about what might happen again.
Judgments.
Disappointments.
Conclusions.
Ways of protecting ourselves from being hurt.

And layer by layer, these things can begin to cover something much simpler.

Not destroy it.
Not replace it.
Just cover it.

Like dust settling over something that has always been there.

The work is not to create what lies beneath.

It is to become willing to see what has covered it.

I was never as lost as I thought.

There may be things you have forgotten.

There may be ways of seeing that feel unfamiliar right now.

But unfamiliar does not mean unnatural.

The peace, innocence, and happiness you may be searching for are not qualities you have to import from somewhere outside yourself.

They are closer than that.

You are not trying to travel toward a place you have never known.

You are becoming willing to remove what has made home difficult to recognise.

And perhaps, beneath all the questions, fears, and stories, there is something in you that already knows the way.
